Chandnaish is an important part of Chittagong district Chittagong Cox's Bazar highway flows over Chandnaish upazila. In the eastern part of the upazila there is a wide area covered with trees and forest nature. At one time this region i.e. South Chittagong was in the heart of the Bay of Bengal. This place originated about two thousand years ago. Arakan was a seaport during the Mughal rule. Merchants from Munsef Bazar Burma (now Myanmar) and various countries in the Middle East used to trade in the fibrous wood of the beautiful and fragrant sandalwood produced in the region. It is said that the region was named Chandanaish after the name of sandalwood. Chandnaish police station was born in 1966 after being separated from Patia. Chandnaish was declared as an upazila in 1983. This upazila consists of 9 unions and 1 municipality. Dhopachhari Union is located in the Pagari area adjoining Bandarban and Rangunia, Dohazari, Hasimpur and Kanchanabad. Chandanaish is bounded on the north by Patia and Rangunia, on the south by Satkania, on the east by Bandarban and Rangunia, and on the west by Anwara upazila.
